MIRI: Members of Squad Kasih Sayang are urged to be close to the people at the grassroots level to enable welfare assistance provided by the government can reach the targetted groups

Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus said commitment from the squad was vital so that no one would be left out from the government’s welfare assistance programme.

Speaking at PBB Bekenu women’s wing’s Squad Kasih Sayang at a longhouse (Rh Margret) in Ladang 3, Miri-Bintulu road yesterday, Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman, said the squad was set up to channel assistance to the poor and needy in Sarawak, irrespective of race and religion.

She also said it was important for the squad members to be well-versed with the government’s welfare programme.

She thus wanted them to get in touch with welfare-related government departments and agencies so that they would be able to forward any case that they might receive to the agencies concerned for further action.

About 50 squad members attended the gathering, which served as another venue for them to exchange ideas and to obtain the latest information on welfare assistance provided by the government.
