A fireman advises the landowner to stop the open burning activity.

MIRI: A landowner was warned yesterday by the Fire and Rescue Department here to stop open burning activities on his land located behind a petrol station at Miri-Pujut road.

According to the Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Law Poh Kiong, five fire-fighters from Miri Fire and Rescue Station, led by Abang Muhd Fhazil were despatched to the scene some 8km away after receiving a report at 10.15am.

“Upon arrival, fire-fighters found the landowner was in the midst of burning rubbish on his land. Abang Muhd advised the landowner not to conduct open burning as it would affect his neighbours,” said Law.
