Its state director Razim Mohd Noor said the programme had helped to foster closer ties between MACC and the community.

The programme was jointly organised by MACC Sibu branch and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), in collaboration with Information Department Sibu, Petronas Dagangan Berhad, National Accountant Department Sibu branch, Fire and Rescue Dept Sibu, Amanita of Sibu District police headquarters, and Maybank Central Sibu.

SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, Information Department Sibu officer Ivy Sekai, SRDC secretary Justani Joni and TR Dieo Kanyan were among those present at the function.

“Closer ties between all parties will promote closer cooperation in line with efforts to combat corruption in society,” Razim said, adding that if anti-corruption could be instilled at all levels of society, no one would indulge in corrupt practices.

Razim also called on everyone to work hand-in-hand with them to combat the evil deed.

Meanwhile, 40 big bikers from several big bike clubs in Sibu also took part in the programme to make it merrier.

Fire and Rescue personnel meanwhile demonstrated fire-prevention techniques while the Information Dept staff shelled out a cooking competition involving the traditional cake of ‘penyaram’, and also prepared bubur pedas.

Sempurai also spoke at the function.
