Minah delivers fourth baby orangutan, a win for Sarawak Forestry

KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry today welcomed a new baby orangutan with a series of heart warming photos on its official Facebook page.

The corporation said the mother orangutan Minah had returned to a feeding area at about 2.30pm today with the new baby.

“Her last attendance before this was on 23/7. Based on our park ranger experience, the baby might be around 3 days.

“The est. DOB is on 26/7. This baby is the fourth for Minah,” Sarawak Forestry said, without specifying where the location of the feeding area was.

Nonetheless, the corporation said the new baby was another successful conservation effort for it.

The baby orangutan has not been officially named.

Sarawak Forestry operates several wildlife rehabilitation centres including in Semenggoh where some 30 orangutans roam freely within the centre and the surrounding 740- hectare forest reserve.
