KUCHING: Petra Jaya MP Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof calls on members of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at all level to be prepared for the all out ‘war’ against Pakatan Harapan (PH) in defending the rights of Sarawak and its people, said.

“This is because GPS, a coalition of Sarawak parties is dedicated in defending Sarawak’s rights. The PH Sarawak leaders can only keep silent when projects in Sarawak were cancelled and Sarawak rights challenged one by one,” he said in press statement yesterday.

He said the level of commitment of GPS in going for “war” proved that the Chief Minister Datuk Patingggi Abang Johari Tun Open is firm in his struggle to defend Sarawak’s rights and restore the lost rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

Fadillah who is the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president pointed out that Abang Johari, the GPS chairman will not compromise in stopping the federal government in further eroding these rights.

He said Sarawak government is upset with the lack of sincerity of federal government leaders in assisting Sarawak.

“This was glaring when PH leaders gathered here last Sunday only to criticise the Sarawak government instead of announcing development projects for the people of Sarawak.”

PH leaders only provide empty promises as proven by their failure to fulfill the pledges they made during the 14th general election, Fadillah said.

“The projects in Sarawak were cancelled with the excuses that the federal government has no budget for them, but at the same time they announced high cost projects in the Peninsular Malaysia.

“Therefore there is no point for the Sarawak government to be nice to the Federal government when they keep on sidelining the state. That is why our party machinery is ready for war. We will not only go to the ground to explain to grassroots people on the latest political situation but also to counter all attacks on the GPS in social media,” he said.

He urged all GPS leaders, particularly elected representatives to be more active and aggressive in countering these attacks on the GPS in social media by responding and clarifying spins and instigations coming from the opposition fold, right immediately.

The elected representatives must impart accurate information to the public when confronting the instigators and not to be overly dependent of the Admin of chats and facebook like pages to defend them, said Fadillah.

Abang Johari drew the battle line and called out the war cry when he said: “You want war? We’ll give you war” at the swearing in ceremony of local authorities’ councillors at a hotel here on Wednesday in responding to Sarawak PH chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s declaration that the next state election would be the battle of the century during the recent PH dinner in Kuching.
