KUCHING: Lady Roberta Simpson, the granddaughter of the last White Rajah of Sarawak, Charles Vyner Brooke thrilled students and teachers when she visited St Joseph’s Private School with her husband Sir Kyffin Simpson, her daughter Heidi and cousin, Jason Brooke on Thursday.

Jason who is the grandnephew of Vyner Brooke takes care of The Brooke Heritage Trust which is in charge of The Brooke Gallery and the Ranee Museum.

The entourage was welcomed at the school entrance by the school’s Lion Dance Troupe before proceeding to the school chapel where Lady Roberta told a group of primary students a lively story from her childhood with her grandmother, Ranee Sylvia.

A renowned Christian children book writer, Lady Roberta has written books such as Nana’s Bible Stories and Tails from the Ark.

Students performed some songs from The White Rajah of Sarawak, a musical based on James Brooke, the first white Rajah, which was restaged successfully recently.
