Two Sarawak religious schools to follow Singapore Islamic studies method

SINGAPORE: Two religious schools in Sarawak have been identified for the implementation of Islamic studies similar to that used in in Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah Singapore.

Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said these schools are SK Agama Datuk Abdul Kadir Hassan and SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab.

According to him, the Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah Singapore is 93 years old and is a reknown school in this region, producing many successful graduates from Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.

“This madrasah uses Arab and we should make this an example in these schools,” he said when visiting the Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah Singapore Friday.

Also present during the visit were the Chief Minister Wife Datuk Amar Juma’aini Tun Tuanku Bujang and Sarawak Islamic Council president Datu Misnu Taha.

Dr Abdul Rahman explained that he is currently in discussion with the Sarawak Islamic Council to improve religious schools in Sarawak.
