MIRI: The public here is reminded to take preventive measures against dengue as spelt out by the Ministry of Health.

“These include periodically inspecting and cleaning their house compound or area and ensuring that there are no containers that can become Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, and using aerosol spray or mosquito repellent to kill adult mosquitoes,” Miri mayor Adam Yii said.

He said so far, only Taman Tunku was declared as a dengue outbreak area in Miri by the Department of Health Sarawak, with 49 cases reported from January to Aug 12 this year, whereas there were no dengue cases recorded during the same period last year.

According to him, comprehensive control and prevention activities were carried out at all locations, including elimination of breeding grounds and mosquito larvae, fogging, issuing of compounds and educational activities.
