MIRI: Renovation work on the Miri Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities building at Piasau Camp is ahead of schedule and expected to be completed within a fortnight.

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said the project began in June and is three months ahead of schedule with just work on the wiring, grilles, and septic tank left.

“The project can be seen almost completed and this has been confirmed by the contractor undertaking the project,” Ting said during a visit yesterday.

He said the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project costing RM128,000 involved the ceiling, doors, kitchen, and toilets, to make the old building more conducive for members.

Ting explained that the association was set up two years ago for those with physical disabilities here.

“I’m happy to see the building is nearly completed and can be made use of by its members to take part in various activities including cooking,” he added.

He called on non-governmental organisations and corporate bodies to contribute to the organisation through their corporate social responsibility programmes.
