KUCHING: St Thomas’ Cathedral at Jalan McDougall will hold its annual Parish Sale on Sept 2 to raise funds for its building projects.

The cathedral’s Dean, the Very Revd Kho Thong Meng, called on the public to spend the public holiday together in fellowship and meeting up with one another at the sale from 7.30am to noon.

“The purpose of the sale this year is to raise funds for the cathedral’s building projects. We are working on extending the current building and putting up additional buildings within the cathedral’s compound so that we can offer better worship halls and facilities for our parishioners.

“It will be a major project. This sale will see our parishioners, teachers, and students from our mission schools and friends working together to kick-start the fundraising process,” he said in a press release yesterday.

There will be about 60 stalls offering many varieties of homemade and local cakes and delicacies.

“We will have the famous roast and barbecue meat, Nyonya delicacies, pansuh, and other home-cooked ready packed food. Preloved items like novels, books, magazines, and clothing will also be on sale,” said Kho.

Cash and the specially-printed Parish Sale coupons can be used to purchase the various items available.

“Do bring your basket or shopping bags too. And thank you to those who have been supporting us in one way or another,” added Kho.

Donations in cash or kind are welcome.
