600 take part in Silent Run 3.0 Sibu

SIBU: Some 600 participants turned up for the ‘Silent Run’ 3.0 Sibu Edition at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang here yesterday.

The event was flagged off by the guest-of-honour Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming.

Sarawak Sport Deaf Association (SSDA) president Albert Wong Tuong Chui, deputy president cum organising chairman Ko Ming Liang and vice president Hii Lik Nguong were present.

According to Albert, the event aims to increase awareness on the plight of the deaf besides raising funds for the SSDA.

He also urged families who have yet to register their children with hearing impairment to do so so as to benefit from the various activities and programmes organised by SSDA.

On behalf of the association he thanked sponsors for their solid support.

The first edition of ‘Silent Run’ was held on Sept 1 in Miri, the second edition in Sibu while the third edition will be held on Sept 29 in Kuching.
