KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Confectionary And Bakery Association (Scaba) is organizing its inaugural Sabah Bakery and Hospitality Expo at ITCC Exhibition Centre from November 22 to 24.

Scaba president Peter Khoo Po Min said the expo offered baking ingredients, machinery, equipment and related products all under one roof.

He believed that the expo was the largest of its kind held in Sabah with a total of 135 booths, while the participating exhibitors come from West Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Taiwan and China.

“Spanning an area of 36,400 square feet, the event will showcase a wide range of baking-related products and services, such as machinery, baking ingredients, packaging, cleaning products, Point of Sale (POS) system, coffee, beverages, flour, food flavouring, chef uniform, Japanese ingredients, as well as a baking academy from Ipoh,” said Khoo.

He said the expo would be an ideal place to source or obtain information on baking supplies for anyone keen to open a bakery or cake shop.

Khoo added that the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Junz Wong has agreed to officiate at the opening ceremony on November 22 at 11 am.

Aside from the expo, he said the event also included fun activities such as cake decoration for parents and children, chocolate praline demonstration, 3D cake demonstration, sugar art and coffee art show.

“We have invited a Vietnamese pastry chef to demonstrate cake decorating with cream as well,” said Khoo.

Scaba will also be celebrating its 21st anniversary and 10th installation ceremony for its committee members at Hakka Hall on November 22.

There are still 48 booths available at the expo. Interested vendors can contact the organizing chairman Collin Tan at 019-820 8827.  The expo will be held from 10 am to 8 pm on November 22 to 24. Admission is free.
