Haze: Sri Aman among three divisions that record ‘very unhealthy’ air quality

KUCHING: Sri Aman is now among the three divisions, along with Kuching and Samarahan that recorded ‘very unhealthy’ air quality as of 9am today.

The air pollutant index (API) reading for Sri Aman has exceeded 201, a reading which is termed as ‘very unhealthy’ since 3am. It increased to 217 as of 9am.

The air quality of Kuching and Samarahan had been ‘very unhealthy’ since 6pm yesterday, with API readings soared to 249 and 226, respectively as of 9am.

The air quality readings for Kuching was 210 and Samarahan (204) at 6pm yesterday.

Other divisions that also recorded ‘unhealthy’ air quality were Sarikei (162), Bintulu (154), Sibu (142), Samalaju (130), Mukah (129), Miri and ILP Miri (128).

API readings from zero to 50 is termed as good air quality; 51 to 100 is categorised as ‘moderate’; 101 to 200 – ‘unhealthy’; 201 to 300 – ‘very unhealthy’; and above 300 – ‘hazardous’.
