Masing tickled by Chong’s attempt to ‘predict the future’

KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing is bemused that Democratic Action party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen has become a ‘clairvoyant’ by predicting that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) would one day gang up with the Umno-PAS alliance to wrest federal government from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“After reneging on PH’s GE14 (14th general election) promises, now CJJ (Chong) is becoming a ‘mind reader’ – being 100-per cent sure that GPS would team up with the Umno-PAS coalition.”

Masing was referring to Bandar Kuching MP Chong’s statement that he was very sure that GPS would ally themselves with Umno again, since they were political friends for more than 50 years.

Chong added that GPS was holding back teaming up with the Umno-PAS pact as the timing was ‘still not right’.

Masing pointed out that GPS was formed by four former Barisan Nasional (BN) Sarawak-based parties after they had broken away from the coalition, in which Umno was the backbone party; hence there would be no possibility that Sarawak’s governing coalition would realign with Umno.
