SERIAN: Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) is committed to safeguarding the community’s Native Customary Rights (NCR) land.
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin, who is DBNA advisor, said the association would continue its land documentation project and explain its benefits to the Bidayuh community.
He pointed out the initiative not only helps to resolve disputes but also facilitates perimeter surveys carried out by the Land and Survey Department.
“Since 2007, DBNA has embarked on this initiative and to this day has successfully solved problems, particularly land disputes, including among family members.
“This initiative should be continued to complement the work done by the Land and Survey Department. The documented land can be used to apply for agriculture assistance schemes,” he said during the NCR Land Documentation Project Dialogue organised by DBNA Serian and DBNA Bung Sadong recently.
Manyin also called for unity among the Bidayuh community.
“The Bidayuh community should continue to be united and be with us as no other group besides DBNA is fighting for NCR land for their community,” he said.
An estimated 300 participants, including community leaders, attended the dialogue.
Among them were Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and Deputy State Secretary and DBNA president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik.
