KUCHING: A team from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department is participating in Fire Fighter and Rescue Exercise Challenge 2019 at Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor from Sept 21-22.

The department’s director Khirudin Drahman stressed that the departments characteristics would be enhanced through participation in such competitions.

“Participation and success demand awareness and deeper understanding. Success, be it in services or any other competitions, is viable through consistent discipline,” he said yesterday after  handing over the state colours to the team.

The team comprising an assistant fire chief, two senior officers II and nine other officers will compete in six sporting events.

On another note, Khirudin said that the department is concerned about many major stadiums in the country which do not to have Certificate of Compliance and Completion. All buildings must have certification to ensure that they are safe for occupation.

“As of now, we are still giving reminders and notices to many government owned buildings,” he said, adding that the department has to prepare the investigation papers and charge sheet before any charge is made.
