KUCHING: The newly-launched Lumos Residence, ‘The Smart, Green, Living Apartment’, is now open for booking.

Developed by Benta Mewah Sdn Bhd, the project offers a 999-year leasehold for its apartment unit and the development sits on a very strategic location, at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here.

According to Benta Mewah managing director Steven Au, the apartment has low density with only 72 units.

“Why ‘Smart’? Smart represents the smart home features embedded in all our apartment units.

“Each home is equipped with features that assist with living, making living more efficient and energy usage to be reduced – thus, giving you a better control of your energy usage.

“Through a simple and educational app, you can control a large part of functions and machines in your house such as electricity, lighting, curtains and other household appliances. Everything is digitalised and they can be customised according to your needs,” he spoke at the launch yesterday.

‘Green’, on the other hand, refers to the development concept that is environmentally sustainable, focusing on the efficient use of energy, water and natural resources to improve homeowners’ lifestyle.

Au said for this project, the developer would implement a rain-harvesting system.

This non-potable water would be used to irrigate landscaping, for car-washing and also for cleaning the common area.

This would reduce the use of ground water and help residents save on the annual water bill.

“Besides that, our green
home uses energy-efficient appliances in order to lessen the usage of energy. LED lightings will be used in our project to replace the fluorescent lamps used in conventional apartments. The LED lights are proven energy-saving mechanism as compared with the fluorescent lights.”

For the ‘Living’ part, Au said it refers to a healthy lifestyle as the apartment has an indoor basketball and badminton courts, gym and swimming pool.

He added that the locality also boasts of a great community, with schools and eateries within a walking radius.

The unit size starts from 1,065 square feet, either with three or four bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

The whole development is slated for completion in 2021.

At the launch, the company also performed some charity work – refurbishing the roof of SK Ong Tiang Swee and providing air-conditioning for the classrooms.

The launch yesterday received a very good response from the public, with 90 per cent of the units sold.

Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg officiated at the event.

Political secretary to chief minister Tan Kai, Au’s wife Helen Lai and Sarawak Blessed Church pastor Lim Gee Tiong were also present.

Benta Mewah is located on Lot 1322, Block 10, Jalan Ong Tiang Swee (next to SK Ong Tiang Swee).
