KUCHING: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has expressed his hope that the upcoming Budget 2020 that will be tabled by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government on Oct 11 will incorporate a lot of goodies for Sarawak.
“Definitely I would want to see more budget allocated to promote Sarawak to build up our cultures and youth and sports, especially for the development of our young athletes and infrastructure,” he said when asked by reporters to comment on the Budget 2020 during a press conference on World Crafts Cities Network Forum 2019.
Abdul Karim, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, recalled that last year’s budget was not really a good one for Sarawak, that even he could not remember the figures.
“That was the year that they just formed the government. We can give them the excuse for that.
“But after one year, they should know how to do it properly. If they still could not give us a good budget, we know that they are just not good enough to be in the government.
“Time for change,” he quipped.
