All divisions in S’wak record moderate air quality except Sri Aman with unhealthy API reading

A mother sending her child to school after schools statewide have been instructed to be opened as usual today.

KUCHING: All divisions in Sarawak continue to record moderate air quality today except for Sri Aman which still recorded an unhealthy air quality with the API reading of 134 as of 8am.

According to a report by the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), despite Sri Aman recording a reading of 134, the reading saw a drop from the one recorded earlier on around 6am which is 164.

Kuching and Samarahan finally recorded moderate API readings (below 100) since Sept 13 with both divisions recording an API reading of 75 and 77 respectively as of 8am today.

Both divisions still recorded unhealthy API readings as of 4pm yesterday (Sept 22) while Miri briefly recorded an unhealthy API reading as of 12am today.

An API reading for good air quality is from zero to 50, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy and 300 and above is hazardous.

Meanwhile, following the improvement in the air quality, the SarawaK Education Department had instructed schools throughout the state to be opened as usual today.
