Man found dead after fight at Kampung Perian in Lundu, 12 suspects arrested

The victim’s body has been sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a postmortem.

KUCHING: A man was found dead after he was believed to have been involved in a fight at Kampung Perian in Lundu earlier this morning.

Acting Lundu police chief Insp Kumbat Tan said based on the preliminary information received at around 2am today, the incident occurred after a man from Kampung Perian brought a woman from Kampung Sebandi.

Following that, Kumbat said about 10 men went to Kampung Perian using three vehicles to retrieve the woman.

“As they arrived at the location, a fight broke out which led to the clash between two groups from Kampung Sebandi and villagers from Kampung Perian. It is believed that they were also using sharp weapons.

“A male victim was wounded at the right hand after he was hit by a sharp weapon, while another unidentified man from Kampung Sebandi was believed to have died at the scene,” he said in a statement released today.

Kumbat said 12 suspects were arrested to assist in police investigation.

The deceased’s body was brought to Sarawak General Hospital for a postmortem.

The case is currently investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
