PENAMPANG: The people of Penampang have not been forgotten by its elected representative, Penampang member of parliament Datuk Darell Leiking.
One of the reasons why the Penampang constituents have not seen Darell more often is because he has been busy carrying out his duties as the International Trade and Industry Minister.
Darrel’s political secretary, Pritchard Gumbaris, pointed out that among Darell’s various responsibilities is to participate in official visits to foreign countries.
“This is his role as the International Trade and Industry Minister, which is something that people need to understand. Some may feel that Darell is not around most of the time and they may ask where is Darell? Sometimes he has to go out of Malaysia. That is his KPI,” he explained.
Pritchard spoke to reporters after representing Darell to officiate at the Tanglung and Mooncake Festival 2019 event here at Taman Nosoob Hall on Saturday.
“Darell is currently in Nanning, China together with federal ministers and ministers from Sabah. There is currently a gathering there. There are several China investors who are interested in Sabah. Darell has also brought Sabah investors to Nanning for them to set up booths there to look for more opportunities. Darell is the one who is helping them,” he said.
The event was organised by P.174 Penampang Community Service Centre together with the Kapitan Cina of Towering.
