KOTA KINABALU: The Civil Defence Corps members (CDC) play an important role in assisting the public in times of emergency, said Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Darell Leiking.
“Their commitment to their duties during emergencies and aftermath of natural disasters is commendable,” said Darell.
In recognition to their service and commitment, Darell donated some equipment to the CDC Penampang so that they would be able to serve the rakyat better.
The equipment comprised raincoats, safety helmets, chain saw, stretcher, vests, torch lights and snake catching tool.
All were handed over to CDC Officer in Penampang Kapten (PA) Mohd Mahirun Bin Sanaharin by Darell’s Political Secretary Pritchard Gumbaris and Head of the Penampang Parliament Service Centre Dora Engchuan.
Mohd Mahirun, in thanking Darell for the donation said that it would help CDC to carry out their duties more effectively and efficiently.
He also expressed hope that CDC headquarters would be able to consider their application for a vehicle to be used to carry out their duties as currently, the Penampang unit still depends on vehicles from the Kota Kinabalu unit.
