Teen claims trial to raping girlfriend, 16

KUCHING: An 18-year-old boy pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday to raping his underage girlfriend.

The accused entered his plea before Judge Jason Juga, who fixed Oct 25 for pre-trial case management and allowed the teen to be released on bail of RM10,000 in two sureties.

The accused allegedly raped the girl, 16, at a house in Kampung Sungai Berdaun, Jalan Sultan Tengah around 6am on Sept 8 this year.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and whipping if convicted.

DPP Muhammad Hafiz Musa prosecuted while the accused was not represented.

In another courtroom yesterday, a 28-year-old man claimed trial to injuring his father by throwing a table at him earlier this month.

Rafie Alif Suhaimi appeared before Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof who fixed Oct 21 for pre-trial case management.

The accused was granted bail of RM2,500 in two sureties pending the date.

He allegedly assaulted his 61-year-old father at their home in Taman Yen Yen, Jalan Matang around 7.30pm on Sept 10 this year.

At the time of the incident, Rafie was allegedly quarrelling with his wife in their bedroom when his father and younger brother intervened to stop him from beating her.

The accused then allegedly hurled a table at his father, causing the latter to receive 11 stitches for a wound on his head. The father also sustained as injury to his left leg.

Rafie was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, and could be jailed for up to 10 years, fined or whipped, if convicted.

Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while Rafie was not represented.
