BAU: Siniawan Country Music Festival 2019 (SCMF 19) is back on Oct 4 and 5 from 5pm onwards with many interesting activities in the pipeline.

Patron of SCMF 19, Miro Simuh said the event held for the fourth consecutive year at Siniawan bazaar is the biggest in the country and is expected to attract both locals and foreign tourists.

“The SCMF 19 will be a very lively and interesting event to showcase what we have in Sarawak, where the people of various races and religions are living harmoniously and in unity. The event that we are going to hold is something big and something different,” Miro, who is Serembu assemblyman told reporters yesterday when announcing the event.

According to him, 11 groups will be performing during the two-night event and they come from Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Pulau Pinang, Indonesia, Singapore, along with performers from Miri, Betong and Kuching.

Two horses will also be available during the event and those who want to ride them will only have to pay RM10 per ride.

He added that the event will also help to portray Siniawan as a heritage town to the people coming to watch the event, besides enhancing interaction among the people of diverse races and religions.

“From our record last year, 16,000 came for the event and for this year, we are expecting more with the haze over and no major events being held in the city,” he said.

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is scheduled to officiate at the event on Oct 4 at 7pm.
