16th Japanese Film Festival at GSC CityOne Oct 3-6

KUCHING: After a successful run in Peninsular Malaysia, the 16th Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2019 is coming to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu from Oct 3 to 6 at GSC CityONE Megamall and GSC Suria Sabah Mall respectively.

The annual festival boasts a broad collection of current and acclaimed titles across a variety of genres ranging from family to music and comedy for everyone.

The month-long celebration kicked off with the South East Asian premiere of ‘Little Nights, Little Love’ directed by Imaizumi Rikiya at Kuala Lumpur Opening night on Sept 3. The Klang Valley run ended after a seven-day marathon from Sept 5 to 11, followed by Penang from Sept 12 to 15 and Johor Bahru from Sept 19 to 22 .

A special feature on music movies will also be one of the highlights this year with ‘Farewell Song,’ ‘Little Love Song’ and ‘La La La at Rock Bottom’.

The JFF 2019 film list includes Brave Father Online – our story of Final Fantasy XIV; Little Night, Little Love; Lying to Mom; When I get home, My wife always pretends to be dead; Farewell Song; La La La at Rock Bottom; Café Funiculi Funicula; My Dad is a Heel Wrestler; Samurai Shifters; A Banana? At This Time of Night?; Bento Harassment; Color Me True; and Little Love Song.

All films are presented in Japanese with English subtitles.

JFF 2019 is also a part of The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL)’s 30th Anniversary celebration in Malaysia this year since its establishment in 1989.

The primary objective of JFKL is to develop mutual understanding between people through culture and language within the region. The office also facilitates and supports the exchange of personnel and experts in the fields of Arts, Culture, Humanities and Social Sciences.
