BINTULU: A special allocation of RM644,000 from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has been distributed to 31 longhouses in the Jepak, Samalaju, and Kemena constituencies.

Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Bintulu political chief Ukar Kelayang said the special provision was allocated by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to fulfil the pledges made by the previous federal government, which were withdrawn when Pakatan Harapan (PH) came into power.

He said GPS is striving to assist rural communities to improve their standard of living by distributing grants and annual allocations.

“Grants are presented as a token of appreciation from the government to help you in carrying out activities such as repairing or upgrading your longhouses or villages.

“We all know that it might not be enough, but the state government is trying its best to give as much as it can to the recipients,” he said during the presentation of cheques under the Chief Minister’s special allocation at the Bintulu member of parliament’s service centre.

Ukar also advised the recipients to avoid being manipulated by irresponsible parties who only care about their own interests.
