KUCHING: Sarawak taekwondo exponents had a fruitful outing at the 3rd Kathmandu International Taekwondo (WTF) championship in Kathmandu, Nepal recently.

The five-member team led by team manager Joseph Chang Siang Ping and assisted by coach Seonwoo Min, brought home seven gold medals which they won in the male and female individual category, mix pair category and team category.

Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak (WTF) technical chairman-cum-State Chief instructor Tan Check Joon was impressed with their young exponents’ performance saying they did very well in every bout to bag the gold medal for the state and nation.

“I am pleased and proud with our athletes. They had improved a lot after going through our intensive training,” he said.

Tan said the five would continue to join the other athletes from various divisions for extra training to prepare for the forthcoming 10th Taekwondo Malaysia (WTF)-NSC-Milo National Junior Taekwondo Championship to be held at Salcra Bajo Training Centre, Lundu next month.
