SIBU: President of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Dato Sri Wong Soon said PSB will contest in four constituencies in the Sibu parliamentary constituency in the coming state election.

The constituencies are  Bukit Assek, Pelawan, Bawang Assan and Dudong.

“We will send our candidates to contest in all these four seats.  For Bukit Assek and Pelawan constituency, the committees in the Youth and Women sections must come together and come up with the strategy to win those seats,” he said at the PSB Pelawan and Bukit Assek branches’ joint Mooncake Festival celebration on Thursday night at Grand Wonderful Restaurant.

He urged all party members to be ready and work hard to face the upcoming state election.

He also said that in this coming election, PSB is eyeing to contest between 30 and 50 Bumiputra seats throughout the state.

“Few weeks ago, the party central had discussed our potential candidates who will be all be professionals,” he said adding  that the party would set up branches in the constituency that they will contest.

“We have many members currently and many want to join our new party.  For one branch, we have between 3,000 and 5,000 members,” he said.

“Once we get ROS approval, we will set up more branches.  Now, we have 26 branches, we might have up to 80 branches soon,” he said.

He also said that PSB is Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) friendly.  However the road in GPS is narrow as in GPS, PBS is required to share constituencies with Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

“And we always quarrel.  So, we decided to leave so that we can have a wider road,” he said.

Also present at the event were Pelawan branch chairperson Kapitan Dato Janet Lau, Bukit Assek branch chairman Kapitan Ting Chek Ming and organising chairperson Ellen Lu.
