KUCHING: Sarawakians can expect ‘good news’ from the national Budget 2020, said Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Chong Chieng Jen.
At a news conference here today, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak chairman said he could not disclose further on the ‘good news’.
“There will be goods news for Sarawak, but you will have to wait until the budget is tabled,” he said after chairing the state PH meeting held at Democratic Action Party (DAP) headquarters.
Chong added: “We are fighting for more allocations for Sarawak and Sabah”.
When asked to define ‘more’, he said he could not go into details.
The national Budget 2020 is scheduled to be tabled in Parliament on Oct 11.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, when approached by journalists, declined to state his hope for the national Budget 2020.
“We see lah, the content of the budget,” he said, adding: “It depends on the federal government. If it gives allocation to Sarawak, we say ‘Thank you’.”
