LAHAD DATU: Ten houses believed to be drug nests were demolished during Op Sarang at Kampung Desa Bajau on Friday.

District police chief ACP Nasri Mansor yesterday said the empty houses were demolished by the district council as they were believed to be used as drug dens.

Nasri said during the joint operation by the police, district council, Water Department and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), they also nabbed three men aged 26 to 45.

He said the three suspects tested positive for drug abuse and one of them was suspected to be a small-scale drug dealer in the area.

“During the operation, 23 men were inspected and three of them tested positive for drug abuse.

“We also seized four translucent plastic packets containing substance believed to be syabu weighing 6.9 grams estimated to be worth RM915 from one of the suspects,” he said.

Nasri said the three suspects were later taken to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters where two of them would be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addict Act while another suspect under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He added that the operation which was launched based on their intelligence and public tip-off, would be carried out from time to time.
