The vehicle was almost completely destroyed in the ensuing fire after the driver crashed it into a tree.
BINTULU: A driver of a supercar managed to cheat death when his vehicle – believed to be an Audi R8 – crashed into a tree and caught fire at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi last night.
According to a statement today, the Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) Operation Centre received an emergency call alerting them to the accident at 12.09am last night.
It was believed that the 25-year-old driver was pulled out from his vehicle and was brought to the hospital by members of the public before the rescue team arrived at the scene of the accident.
“When Bomba and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found that the car was already on fire and as a result was nearly 100 per cent destroyed in the blaze,” the statement read.
Bomba then proceeded to put out the fire and bring the situation under control. The operation ended at about 1am.
