KUCHING: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sarawak contingent is updating its database of pensioners and former policemen, especially those who served during the Sarawak Emergency period between 1962 and Oct 17, 1990.

According to Sarawak police contingent’s management department chief SAC Norzanah Buang, the personal details of these personnel are crucial in tracking those who would qualify for the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN) medal.

“We are requesting that these former members of the force – especially those who had served as Border Scouts (BC), those in the Special Constabulary (SC), Extra Police Constables (EPC), the Home Guards (HC), Auxillary Police (AP) personnel, Women Sarawak Constabulary (WSC), Police Field Force Reservists (PFFR) and those others who served in Sarawak prior to and on Oct 17, 1990 – to provide their information such as names, personnel numbers (in the force), old and new identification card (IC) numbers, starting dates of their retirement, their home or mobile phone numbers, and also information about their next-of-kin,” she said in a statement released yesterday.

Norzanah advised them to submit the information to the nearest police station or nearest district police headquarters.
