Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the restriction included vehicles weighing five tonnes and above.

“Heavy vehicles such as trailers and heavy trucks are not to use Buangsiol Road as they will cross the high-risk areas of Bukit Kota where there was a landslide,” he said during his visit to victims of a landslide at Kampung Bukit Kota and Pemukat yesterday.

Accompanying him were representative of Limbang District Office Ratnawati Tuah; Public Works Department engineer Noor Ismail Razali; Fire chief of Zone Seven Limbang Edmund Mahai Amboh and

On Friday, seven families were affected by two landslides believed to be caused by heavy rains here.

The 3.30am incident at Kampung Bukit Kota affected five families in one house while two other families were affected by a landslide  at Kampung Pemukat at 3.11pm.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also Bukit Kota assemblyman said PWD had installed canvas in the affected areas in Kampung Pemukat while firefighters helped to remove the earth at affected areas in Bukit Kota.

“The JKR is directed to make an assessment and investigation to be reported at a meeting in Kuching next week,” he added.

Meanwhile, the District Disaster Committee is clearly ready for any flood disaster during the North East Monson season from November to March, Dr Abdul Rahman said.

He advised villagers to avoid any agricultural activities and others on the slopes as this would affect soil stability and cause landslides.

Dr Abdul Rahman was pleased with the government agencies involved in helping the landowners.
