MIRI: A special photo exhibition set to take place at Pustaka Miri this month will allow visitors to see Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in a different light.

The showcase, to run from Oct 13 to 18, is organised in connection with the official celebration of the Head of State’s birthday this Oct 12.

“The exhibition will feature some 100 photos of His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, arranged in chronological order starting from the 1960s when he was still an assemblyman,” said Pustaka Miri public relations officer Suria Sonia Ahip Abdullah in a statement yesterday.

According to her, Taib is expected to declare open the ‘Dirgahayu Tuan Yang Terutama’ (Long Live His Excellency) this Oct 13.

Jointly run by Pustaka Miri, Astana Negeri and Chief Minister’s Office, the exhibition will occupy the lobby area of Pustaka Miri.

The daily opening hours will be from 10am to 9pm – Mondays to Fridays; and 9am-6pm on weekends.

It is closed during public holidays.

Suria said to add some excitements, there would be quizzes on the exhibition, offering attractive prizes to the lucky visitors.

“Invitations have been extended to all private and government bodies, as well as to institutions of education to take part in this special exhibition. We especially welcome foreign visitors to see the exhibition and also take part in the quizzes,” she said.
