KUCHING: Pos Malaysia today launched a new service it calls ‘SendParcel’, an online delivery platform.

The launch was held in conjunction with World Post Day today.

Sarawak regional director of Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Adiman Ajem, said the service was well-suited to meet the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in today’s e-commerce world.

He pointed out that the new service would include free pick-up, bonus credit, best rates, e-consignment note, email notifications to sender and recipient and real-time tracking.

Those who want to use the service can sign up at www.poslaju.com.my.

“Every year, Pos Laju is looking to introduce new products and services in line with technology development because we believe that customers always want to engage themselves with faster, efficient, effective and a more convenient postal service,” he said.

He added that MCMC started to co-ordinate the postal service industry in 2001, replacing the Postal Service Department, to ensure a quality postal service and develop the industry in the country.

Adiman also said that MCMC has also carried out the postal service transformation programme for Sabah and Sarawak (PTPSS).

He said the PTPSS in the state was currently in Phase IV of the programme, having 273 community postmen, 96 community postal representatives and nine units of Post-on Wheel (POW) to reach rural areas.

Present were Pos Malaysia state general manager Bong Tung Hui and state Information director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim.
