Taib will be joined by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.

The parade will be the highlight of the celebration and members of the public are invited to watch the grand affair, where there will also be a special fly-past by the Royal Malaysian Air Force, Fire and Rescue Department, Hornbill Skyways and police helicopters bearing the national and state flags.

After the parade, Taib will adjourn to Mega Hotel to grace the investiture ceremony where he will present various state awards and medals to recipients, while in the evening, Taib, Abang Johari and their spouses will attend a State Dinner at Pullman Hotel.

A special ‘Konsert Rakyat’ for the public featuring popular singers Faizal Tahir, Ricky Andrewson, Melissa Francis, Bibiyanti, Siti Hajar and others will be held at Coco Cabana at 8pm this Saturday.

On Oct 13, Taib will attend a high tea reception at Gymkhana Club Miri in the morning where he will be presenting welfare aid and cash to underprivileged people before launching the Dirgahayu Exhibition at Pustaka Miri.

Commenting on the rehearsal yesterday, Jaul said he was satisfied with the overall performance and hoped the contingents would do their best this Saturday.

The full dress rehearsal will be held today (Oct 10).

Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s Department Protocol Unit and Event Management director Azlan Abdul Badri said new elements are always inserted for the celebration each year and for this year, there are interval performances during the parade while the State Dinner will see special performances by the orchestra from Istana Budaya and the Konsert Rakyat will feature musical fireworks for the public.
