Advancecon bags RM49.4 million contract in Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR: Advancecon Holdings Bhd’s (Advancecon) wholly-owned subsidiary, Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd, has won a RM49.4 million contract to carry out earthworks and ancillaries works for a proposed new road under the Upper Rajang Development Agency Package 2 Road Infrastructure Projects in Pelagus/Baleh, Sarawak.

The earthworks and civil engineering services firm said Advancecon Infra obtained the Letter of Award from Advancecon (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, whose client is the Regional Corridor Development Authority.

In a statement yesterday, it said the scope of works entailed undertaking of soil investigation works, piling works, geotechnical works, environmental protection and enhancement, traffic management and control, demolition and site clearance, earthworks, drainage works, road and pavings, as well as bridge works.

Advancecon said the estimated contract duration would be 29 months from site possession on Oct 19, 2019.

“This breakthrough signifies that our efforts to reinforce our presence in Sabah and Sarawak by bidding for infrastructure works in Sarawak are beginning to bear fruit,” said Advancecon group chief executive officer Datuk Phum Ang Kia.

He believed the company should be able to tender successfully for more projects while also diversifying its income stream to a new emerging market, banking on its enhanced reputation. — Bernama
