KUCHING: Pos Malaysia marked the golden jubilee commemoration of World Post Day yesterday with celebrations in all states in the country.

Here in the city, the 50th anniversary of World Post Day saw over 100 Pos Malaysia staff joining stakeholders and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in a celebration led by MCMC Sarawak director Adiman Ajem and Pos Malaysia Sarawak general manager Bong Tung Hui.

A luncheon held later saw the launching of Pos Malaysia’s new online delivery platform SendParcel, among other activities.

At the same time, Pos Malaysia Sarawak also recognised its long-serving staffers and those who have performed excellently, by presenting them with awards and certificates of appreciation.

Information Department Sarawak director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim was among those present during yesterday’s celebration.

World Post Day, first held in 1969, is celebrated in countries across the world to highlight the importance of the postal service.
