KUCHING: The very first Pan Borneo Highway ‘Kick-Off Project’ (KOP) from Jalan Nyabau to Simpang Bakun has been completed and will be opened to the public on Monday (Oct 14), according to the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak.

The KOP is a four-lane dual carriageway road measuring 43km, announced the department in a press statement today.

“Remaining works are required to be carried out at the beginning and end chainages of the road,” the statement explained.

The department urged road users to follow traffic management and traffic flow provided at sites.

“The public are strongly advised to slow down and adhere to the posted ‘Speed Limit’ when approaching Jalan Nyabau Junction Bintulu as well as approaching Bakun Junction towards Miri.”

Road users were also reminded to use the ‘P-Turn’ provided along the road, said the department.

“No illegal turning shall be allowed.

“A true dream of Sarawakians in having the highway has now become a reality. Please  be safe and careful on the road as we want you and your family to reach your destination safely,” it concluded.
