KUCHING: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak holidays next year will coincide with the mid-year school break.
This was stated in the list of school holidays for the year 2020 released by the Education Ministry on Wednesday.
Based on the list, next year’s Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak holidays will be on May 24 and 25, and June 1 and 2, respectively. Both festivals will fall during the mid-year school break from May 23 to June 7.
The school holidays are divided into two groups whereby Kedah, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu fall under Group A.
Sarawak, along with Sabah, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Pahang, and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya, are in Group B.
For Group A, the first mid-term break will be from March 13 to 21 followed by the mid-year break from May 22 to June 6, second mid-term break (July 24-Aug 1) and year-end break (Nov 20-Dec 31).
For Group B, the first mid-term break is from March 14 to 22; mid-year break (May 23-June 7); second mid-term break (July 25-Aug 2); and year-end break (Nov 21-Dec 31).
