36,021 students from Sarawak preparing for SPM this Monday

KUCHING: A total of 36,021 candidates in Sarawak have registered to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2019 examination, which will be held simultaneously nationwide from Oct 14 to Nov 17 (Phase 1) and Nov 5 to Nov 28 (Phase 2).

Out of the total figure, 32,802 people or 91.06 per cent are national secondary school (SMK) candidates, a statement from the State Education Department revealed.

A total of 1,045 or 2.9 per cent are private secondary candidates, while 416 or 1.15 per cent are candidates for schools under agencies other than the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and 1,758 people or 4.88 per cent are private candidates.

The candidates will sit for the examination at 298 examination centres.

They consist of 249 centres at national secondary schools, 10 other centres at schools of agencies other than MOE, 13 private secondary schools and 51 private centres throughout Sarawak.

A total of 281 Area Supervisors and 2,105 Supervisors have been appointed to handle the SPM examinations in Sarawak.

All SPM candidates are reminded to bring their Identity Card or Kad Perakuan and examination registration slip when sitting for the examinations.
