CM congratulates China on its 70th anniversary

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says China, with its strong and visionary leadership, has overcome numerous obstacles towards nation-building.

He said China is an economic miracle, having grown from obscurity to an economy which is worth more than 90 trillion Yuan in 2018, ranked second in the world.

“Chinese civilisation which started more than 4,000 years ago is a civilisation that has endured till this day.

“The lives of many Chinese people have greatly improved, and China’s status in the world is greatly enhanced,” he said at the launch of a photo exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of China as a republic on Oct 1, 1949 at tHe Spring yesterday.

“I don’t want to say more than necessary to describe the phenomenal success of modern China.

“I leave it to all of you who come to see this exhibition to enjoy the experience of understanding and appreciating China’s journey of success as you go through the displays.”

His text of his speech was read by Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Abang Johari, on the behalf of the people of Sarawak, congratulated the Consul-General of China in Sarawak and the people of China on the 70th anniversary of the founding of China.

China’s deputy consul-general in Sarawak Zhang Yang was also present.

In the exhibition, vivid photos showcasing the joint endeavours and great achievements the Chinese people have made to create a beautiful life, and the arduous exploration, successful experience and worldwide significance of socialism with Chinese characteristic, to help people of all countries learn more about China’s past, present and future.

The exhibition will run for a week.

A movie called ‘My People, My Country’ will be shown at MBO at tHe Spring until Sunday.
