KUCHING: Dayak National Congress (DNC) will be holding a seminar on ‘Religion Without Compulsion’ at DBNA Main Hall, Jalan Kumpang here on Nov 9.

Its president Paul Rajah said this seminar will come up with resolutions to be forwarded to both state and federal governments following incidences of growing religious intolerance in the country.

The free seminar is open to everyone regardless of racial and religious background.

“What we want to see is the nation is returned to the original vision where everybody has a place. This is where DNC is trying to play our little role in this country because we believe that as long as we are a nation, everybody should live harmoniously in this country

“If we want to continue to exist as a country, there has to be rebuilding process. Otherwise, everybody is going to tear down the nation and that is not good for us. Nobody will benefit from a country that is destroyed but everybody is going to benefit when the country is built,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting on the seminar yesterday.

Meanwhile, seminar organising chairman Patrick Sibat Sunjang said they expect 650 to turn up.

“This seminar aims to educate and create awareness that the federal constitution provides a number of legal protection for freedom of religion,” he said, adding that four papers will be presented from 8am to 4pm, including on MA63.
