Varsity student, school-teacher clinch Miss, Mrs Beautiful Chubby Queen crowns

KUCHING: A university student and a school-teacher came out tops at the Miss and Mrs Beautiful Chubby Queen 2019 finale at Penview Convention Centre in Demak here last Saturday night.

Swinburne University of Technology student Sue Zane Melanie, 22, from Bau, was crowned Miss Beautiful Chubby Queen, while 44-year-old Patricia Judin – a teacher from SMK Batu Kawa – clinched the Mrs Beautiful Chubby Queen crown.

They were among 18 finalists of the beauty pageant, which entered its third edition this year.

Moreover, Sue Zane also won two subsidiary titles – Miss Best Catwalk and Miss Favourite while Patricia, a mother of four, bagged three subsidiary titles – Mrs Favourite, Mrs Charming Dress and Mrs Beautiful Smile.

Each winner received cash prize of RM700, An Elite Estetik Medispa voucher worth RM1500 and MG Perfume by Zeeda, alongside the crown, a trophy and a bouquet.

Placing first and second runner-up behind Sue Zane were Aishah Rahman from Sabah and Larissa Silvester Ragam, respectively. Eight contestants were selected for this category.

Finishing second and third behind Patricia were Freda Kahang and Siti Sabariah, respectively. This category had 10 finalists.

The first runners-up each walked away with RM500, Elite Estetik Medispa voucher worth RM1,000 and MG Perfume by Zeeda; the second runners-up each received RM300, Elite Estetik Medispa voucher worth RM500, and MG Perfume by Zeeda.

The beauty contest was organised and run by Angel Impact Event Management – a company owned by former beauty queen Angela Martin.

Renowned Iban singer Datin Senorita Linang, also a former beauty queen, officiated at the event.

There was also a special segment where the second runner-up finalist of Miss Planet International, Viviana Lin Winston presented the ‘Queen of Queens’ crown to Senorita, in recognition of the latter’s contribution and long involvement in the local beauty pageant industry.

Senorita was the second runner-up contestant in ‘Miss Malaysia Float Queen’, held in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of National Day celebration on Aug 31, 1967 in Kuala Lumpur.

She was also the first Iban to have won the Kumang Gawai Dayak crown for three consecutive years – from 1966 to 1968.

Senorita received a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ at the national Anugerah Perdana Seniman 2009, in honour of her invaluable contribution to the entertainment industry in Malaysia.
