KUCHING: A police Investigation has revealed that that no injuries were found on the body of a man who was discovered with his neck and waist tied to 12 bricks at a private jetty in Jalan Lanang, Sibu yesterday.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference today, Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police Dato Dev Kumar said that following the finding, the police will have to wait for the result of a postmortem before investigating the case further.

“As for now, there are two possibilities as to what happened, as the man could have tied himself to the bricks and drowned himself, or there is the possibility that there were people who tied him to the bricks (and pushed him into the river). We are waiting for the postmortem to be completed,” he said.

Dev also revealed that the postmortem on the body will be conducted in two days’ time.

He said the body is believed to that of a foreigner, based on the absence of a BCG vaccination mark on his arm.

With tattoos on both of his shoulders, the man’s body was found entangled in a net mounted near a fuel vessel by an angler who passed through the area where it was found.
