LIMBANG: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak has already identified potential candidates in 82 state constituencies for the next state election, disclosed Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh.

“The announcement of the candidates will be made by Pakatan Harapan Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, together with PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian, at the appropriate time,” said Abang Zulkifli, who is Baru’s press secretary.

He said this when met Sunday after the launching of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Bukit Kota sub-branch here, which was attended by some 700 people including PKR Limbang branch chairman Dr Lau Liak Koi and programme sponsor Rosli Amat.

Abang Zulkifli, who represented Baru – the Works Minister – at the event, said PH would be raising issues faced by the people, including abuse of power, embezzlement and corruption, in the next state polls.

He pointed out that PH has consistently touched on these issues apart from those close to the heart of native communities in the state.

“We will continue to fight for the relevant issues dear to the Orang Ulu, Dayaks and Malays relating to native customary rights land, poverty, lack of clean water and more,” he said.

On PKR’s strength in Limbang, Abang Zulkifli said the party currently has about 4,000 registered members and is aiming to recruit more, particularly among the youth.

“So far, we have received very good response from the youths as our struggle is consistent with their expectations and they are aware of our direction of reformation and rejecting politics of enriching cronies,” he said.
