Cops believe 40 house break-in, 30 vehicle theft cases solved with arrest of 3 suspects

One of the suspects that was arrested by the police during a special operation yesterday.

KUCHING: Police believed that they have solved at least 40 house break-in and 30 vehicle theft cases following the arrest of three men yesterday.

State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Denis Leong said the three suspects aged between 33 and 42 years old were arrested during a special operation at Jalan Kuching-Serian.

“As of now, our investigation revealed that the three suspects were involved in house break-in and vehicle theft cases in Kuching, Padawan and Kota Samarahan.

“Hence, we believed that we have solved 40 house break-in and 30 vehicle theft cases,” he said in a press statement today.

During the operation, police also seized two cars and keys, as well as remote controls of various vehicle models.

“Apart from that, a few types of hand phones and equipment believed to be used for the house break-ins and vehicles thefts were also seized from the suspects,” he said.

Also involved in the operation were personnel from the Sarawak Police Contingent, Kuching District Police headquarters (IPD) Kuching, Padawan District Police headquarters and Kota Samarahan District Police headquarters.

Police are still conducting their investigation into the cases.
