I-CATS to hold Special Info Days for degree programmes

KUCHING: The International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) will be holding the ‘Special Info Days for Degree Programmes’ this Oct 19 and 20 at its campus along Jalan Stampin Timur here.

It is open to students especially those who have completed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), diploma holders and also the public from 9am to 4pm daily.

Members of the i-CATS academic team and course counsellors will be available for face-to-face counselling on the degree programmes available at i-CATS, including various forms of financial assistance.

“In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS), of which i-CATS is a subsidiary, students who register for our degree programmes during the two days (for the October 2019 intake) will receive an attractive discount on the total tuition fee.

“Essentially, this will be a partial tuition fee waiver ranging from 10 to 15 per cent. The registration’s fee of RM200 will also be waived,” said i-CATS chief executive officer Mohammad Isham Fauzi.

Through its collaboration with the Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, he said i-CATS is currently offering two bachelor’s degree programmes – Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in E-Commerce, and Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons) which can be completed at the college campus.

“For our students, this will result in considerable cost savings, especially on travel and living costs,” he added.

Mohammad Isham regarded the programmes as a gateway to exciting careers in digital economy, in that they would prepare the students for a wide range of leadership and managerial positions.

With the increasing importance of Industry Revolution 4.0 and the digital economy, he said graduates of these bachelor degree programmes would be trained to thrive in the ever-changing and vibrant global economy.

“With the support and guidance of the i-CATS team of experienced lecturers, students will acquire a broad base of career-relevant knowledge and skills. During their studies, in addition to theoretical concepts, they will acquire practical
skills in their area of specialisation.”

Mohammad Isham also mentioned a number of former students who graduated in Bachelor of Software Engineering, who had successfully formed their own companies.

With regard to financial assistance, Mohamad Isham stated that i-CATS would provide assistance to students in their applications for study loans from National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) or the Yayasan Sarawak.

With regard to financial assistance from Yayasan Sarawak, students who meet the prescribed requirements will be offered a scholarship-loan, which covers the course fees and monthly living allowance.

During the Special Info Days, students and parents are also encouraged to join the guided campus tour
and light refreshments will be served.
