Advancecon bags contracts for URDA in Sarawak, Sime Darby in Negeri Sembilan

KUCHING: Earthworks and civil engineering services specialist Advancecon Holdings Bhd (Advancecon) recently announced that it has bagged two contracts worth a total of RM50.5 million, comprising a RM38.7 million contract for URDA in Sarawak and a RM11.8 million works contract for Sime Darby in Negeri Sembilan.

The RM38.7 million contract encompasses earthworks and ancillaries works for the proposed new road in Rh. Undi/ Rh. Seli/ Rh. Mamut/ Rh. Ai in Antawau, Sg. Bena (Phase 1) and entails the undertaking of soil investigation works, geotechnical works, environmental protection and enhancement, traffic management and control, demolition and site clearance, earthworks, drainage works, road and pavings, as well as bridge works.

The contract will be for a duration of 23.5 months, from October 22, 2019 till October 7, 2021.

Notably, this is Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd’s second Letter of Award from Advancecon (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, whose client is the Regional Corridor Development Authority. The previously secured contract under the URDA was worth RM49.4 million for similar works in Pelagus/Baleh.

In addition, Advancecon also obtained a Letter of Award from Sime Darby to carry out earthworks and ancillary works for the SME Business Park development in Negeri Sembilan.

The scope of works specified in this contract awarded by Sime Darby includes the proposed construction and completion of earthworks, ESCP, main drain, retaining wall and other ancillary works. The contract will be fulfilled over a period of 12 months starting from October 25, 2019, the date set for site possession till October 24, 2020.

“Advancecon has now secured three new contracts in the span of a week, bringing the Group’s total new wins to approximately RM200 million year-to-date. We are recognised for competitiveness and competency, as we step up efforts to maintain a positive trajectory,” Advancecon group chief executive officer Dato’ Phum Ang Kia said.

“With Sarawak being identified as a promising growth area, we have accumulated a fleet of machinery from ongoing projects which enables the timely commencement of new projects when required.

“Moreover, managing two different roadworks projects in the same area allows for the proper planning of resources to achieve optimal efficiency and could eventually boost our credentials in East Malaysia.

“Furthermore, winning another contract from our repeat customer Sime Darby establishes the trust in our earthworks and construction capabilities. These two wins demonstrate that we are equally capable of undertaking earthworks for both infrastructure and commercial development projects.”

Following these latest contract wins, Advancecon’s outstanding orderbook amount totals RM866.9 million, with earnings visibility for at least 30 months.
