SIBU: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is currently in the process of selecting ‘winnable’ candidates for the next state election, says its president Dato Sri Wong Koh.

He also said as part of its strategy, PSB is eyeing constituencies it felt it could win, as a step to making a comeback in the state’s political arena.

“We are in the process of choosing our winnable candidates. We will contest in as many constituencies as possible, especially in areas where we feel we can win.

“We might contest in 40, 50 or 60 seats in the coming state election. We do not know yet,” he said during a meet-the-people session at Rumah Dawi Ringgil in Passai over the past weekend.

The Bawang Assan assemblyman said among those who have applied to become PSB candidates are doctors, lawyers, engineers and government officers.

“We are having difficulties in choosing because there are too many possible candidates. We are in the process of interviewing them to make sure that they can win,” he said.

Wong also told the gathering that he would be defending his Bawang Assan seat in the next polls, against candidates from both Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Pakatan Harapan.

Present at the event were Pemanca James Semilan, Penghulu Jeffery Sut, Penghulu Richard Ampi, Penghulu Evelyn Holly Sebom, PSB Bawang Assan Bumiputera Unit chairman Andrew Shilling and folks from 12 nearby longhouses.
